Does spelling count in networking?
Have you ever opened an email and your name was spelled incorrectly?
For example:
Dear Alice,
Um, yeah, my name is actually spelled AlYce.
Or even worse, have you ever opened a networking email where someone was asking you for a favor and they didn't take the time to make sure your name, yeah, that thing you were given that's a major part of your identity, reputation and possibly brand was spelled correctly?
While we all make mistakes, misspelling someone's name, especially if you're trying to network with them, is a sure way to make a BAD impression.
Want to stand out in a positive way when networking?
It's simple! (Trust me. this tool is so basic even a 6yr old can do it!)
Gift yourself an extra 3 seconds to proofread the name of someone you're emailing and that way you won't look like a total doofus nor will this simple and silly mistake tarnish your reputation!
That's right, take a few extra seconds to proofread your emails before sending them out and most importantly make sure that the person you're trying to connect with won't be turned off by such a simple mistake as spelling your name wrong!
I'd love to hear if you've ever experienced this before? Does it bother you when your name is spelled incorrectly? I'll be on Facebook live this Thursday, June 29th at 2:00pm MST to hear from you and share more ideas on how to ensure your networking reputation stays strong from start to finish!
