August 2018 - Meet My Network: Brooke Chesnut

* Meet My Network is a monthly blog series where Alyce highlights outstanding individuals within her network to share their professional and personal accomplishments*

When was the last time you met a ‘baby boomer’ who had successfully summited #5 of the Worlds 7 Summits? Probably never, right? I don’t want to brag, per se, but I’ve had the immense pleasure of meeting and can now call Brooke Chesnut my friend.

Brooke is a badass and I’m not afraid to say it. He’s a coach, consultant, speaker, father, grandfather and one hell of a networker.

For those of you who’ve never met or heard Brooke Chesnut speak do yourself a favor and click here to watch this introduction video of him.

Personally, I met Brooke over a year ago and we connected immediately. You see, if we’re going to label people by generation, I’m technically a millennial (don’t hate me, I promise I’ll follow through on what I say I’m going to do!) and Brooke is technically a ‘baby boomer’, which means we’re not supposed to work well together. But, if Brooke has taught me anything it's been the notion that our ages are just numbers and that we can all learn from each other regardless of how many candles we’re trying to fit on our birthday cakes.

With four different generations now in the workforce there’s a lot of talk about how all the various generations, with their different backgrounds and upbringings can strategically and effectively work together. When companies or individuals need help on this topic they call Brooke.

Brooke is a generational expert that consults, trains and mentors organizations to improve profitability. He has the vitality to engage the millennial generation, the wisdom to educate the senior level workers and the experience to connect the millennial characteristics to all the generations for organizational success.

With 30 years of experience in sales, mentoring programs and consulting work, Brooke’s passion for these disciplines resonates with everyone he meets. Brooke has been recruiting, training, and mentoring young professional business talent for decades.

Today, Brooke continues to work as a generational expert but his focus has turned to professional speaking engagements as he shares entrepreneurship lessons learned from Climbing Mt. Everest. Yes, Brooke recently returned from Everest where he took on Summit #6 and all I can tell you is that his story is INCREDIBLE.

I was fortunate enough to hear Brooke’s adventure on Everest and some of his major takeaways  with my MeetUp group, #inspired5280 just a few weeks ago. The group was enthralled to say the least and you could have heard a pin drop because Brooke had every single person engaged, and thinking about how they can incorporate three practices to see better results while networking, building a business or transitioning into a different career that ultimately enabled him to be successful while climbing Mt. Everest.

What are these three practices you ask? I’ll tell you but only because you’ve read this far. They are: 1. Acclimate, 2. Build Community and 3. Listen/Ask.

From my vantage point as a networking coach these are three of the most important concepts, lessons, whatever you want to call them things, that anyone must learn and master with time in order to be a strategic connector. And I guess three things one must do in order to climb and summit some of the world’s tallest mountains.

And if you want a more in-depth experience with Brooke and these three practices join him on September 12, 2018 at #inspired5280 MeetUp where he’ll be presenting again, (yes, he’s that good) and teaching people HOW to implement them into their personal and professional endeavors.

I’m excited to have shared part of Brooke’s story with you all and hope that you’ll find the time  to reach out to him and even better find an event where he’s speaking so you can experience him in all his glory.
